On Patmos

Description
John the Apostle sits among the rugged rocks of Patmos, holding a feather quill as he writes during his exile. His aged face, long white hair, and solitary posture present the beloved disciple as a faithful witness receiving and recording the revelation of Jesus Christ. The island setting emphasizes both imprisonment and divine encounter: Rome has confined John, but the word of God is not bound. In the opening of Revelation, John identifies himself as a brother in tribulation who was on Patmos “for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.” This artwork suits teaching on Revelation, Christian endurance, prophetic Scripture, exile, and the perseverance of the church under persecution.
