Lazarus, Ayo Forth!

Jesus stands at the mouth of a rock-hewn tomb with His hands lifted in divine command, calling Lazarus back from death. The viewer looks from inside the shadowed burial cave toward the gathered witnesses outside, while the wrapped body of Lazarus lies in the foreground awaiting the miracle. Women and mourners stand near the entrance, including the grieving sisters Mary and Martha, whose sorrow is about to become testimony.

The scene draws from John 11, where Christ declares, “I am the resurrection and the life,” then speaks with authority over the grave. The dark cavern frames the contrast between death and the living presence of the Son of God. This artwork is suited for teaching on resurrection, faith in Christ, funeral hope, Easter ministry, and the signs of Jesus recorded in the Gospel of John.
