Ahab Requests Naboth’s Vineyard

King Ahab, crowned and robed in royal dress, speaks face to face with Naboth the Jezreelite beside heavy clusters of grapes and a stone structure near the vineyard. Naboth gestures in firm reply, standing as the covenant landowner whose inheritance lies beside the palace of the king in Samaria. The vines framing the scene make the vineyard the central issue: Ahab desires it for his own use, offering money or another vineyard in exchange.
